Authentication via Agent

The Agent helps verify the status of endpoint devices and also supports collecting system information, access control, and user authentication. You can set up the Policy Server to authenticate users using the Genian Agent plugin. Once a user is authenticated, the Agent communicates with the Policy Server every 2 minutes to continuously verify the user of the endpoint device.

Step 1. Create a Node Group for Agent Authentication

  1. Go to Policy in the top menu.
  2. Go to Group > Node in the left Policy menu.
  3. Click Task > Create.
  4. Enter Agent Authentication as the ID.
  5. In the Node Group window, find the Condition menu. Click Add Condition.
  6. Enter the following:
    • Item: Agent
    • Condition: Installation Status
    • Setting: Installed
  7. Click the Update button.
  8. Click the Apply Change Policy button in the top right.

Step 2. Configure User Authentication via Agent Plugin

  1. Go to Policy in the top menu.
  2. Go to Policy > Node Policy > Node Action in the left Policy menu.
  3. Find and click the Agent Authentication Window.
  4. Add the desired condition and Agent option settings.
  5. Click Update.
  6. Click the Apply Change Policy button in the top right. Click Close.

Step 3. Create a Node Policy for Agent Authentication

  1. Go to Policy in the top menu.
  2. Go to Policy > Node Policy in the left Policy menu.
  3. Click Tasks > Create. Complete the steps of the Node Policy Wizard.
  4. In the General tab, enter Agent Authentication as the ID.
  5. In the Node Group tab, select the Agent Authentication node group and move it to the Selected position.
  6. In the Policy Preferences tab, enter the desired options.
  7. In the Agent Action tab, select the Agent Authentication Window and move it to the Selected position.
  8. Anomaly Definition Settings tab (Nothing is required in this tab)
  9. Click Complete.
  10. Click the Apply Change Policy button in the top right. Click Close.

Assign Agent Action to Node Policy

  1. Go to Policy in the top menu.
  2. Go to Policy > Node Policy in the left Policy menu.
  3. Find and click the desired Node Policy name.
  4. In Agent Action, click Assign.
  5. Move the Agent Authentication Window action to the Selected position.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Update.
  8. Click the Apply Change Policy button in the top right. Click Close.

Note

If you do not want to create a new node policy, you can select the steps below to use an existing node policy.
