Setting and checking switch status information

It is possible to configure information collection on targets detected via switches, and view the collected data.

Note

  1. Information can be collected using the SNMP Read Community.
  2. If SNMP Write Community is used, the switch configuration can be modified.

Viewing Switch Information

You can view the information collected for targets classified as switches by the system. The collected information includes:

Item Description
Switch ID Displays the MAC address of the switch.
Switch Name Displays the name of the switch.
IP Address Displays the management IP assigned to the switch.
Available/Total Ports Displays the number of used and total ports on the switch.
Port Security Indicates whether port security (binding MACs to ports) is supported.
802.1x Indicates whether 802.1x is supported and enabled.
Update Time Shows the time when the switch information was last updated.
Uptime Displays the operational uptime of the switch.
Serial Number Displays the switch’s serial number.
Model Name Displays the switch’s model.
Description Displays a description of the switch.

Viewing Switch Port Information

You can check settings for each port on the switch. The information available includes:

  1. Go to Management > Switch from the top panel.
  2. Select All Switch Ports from the left menu.
  3. Click the Name of the port you wish to view.
Item Description
Switch Name Displays the name distinguishing the switch.
Name Displays the port name.
Port # Shows the port number.
Description User-defined value in NAC.
Type Displays the port type (e.g., phone line, power line).
Connection Status Indicates whether the port is in use.
Duplex Displays the Duplex mode of the interface.
Speed Shows the speed assigned to the port.
Traffic Displays traffic volume per second (bps) based on SNMP polling.
Utilization Indicates port utilization. High usage may indicate congestion.
Receive Shows accumulated inbound traffic.
Transmit Shows accumulated outbound traffic.
Nodes Displays the number of nodes managed by the system on this port.
Trunk Port Indicates whether the port is configured as a trunk port.
Port Security Indicates whether port security is enabled.
Port Security Status Displays the status of port security when enabled.
802.1x Setting Indicates whether 802.1x is configured.
802.1x Status Shows the operational status of 802.1x when enabled.
Allowed MACs Displays the number of MACs allowed to connect to the port.
MACs Shows the number of MACs currently connected to the port.
Default VLAN Displays the untagged VLAN ID.
VLAN ID Shows the VLAN ID the port belongs to.
Admin Down Indicates if the port has been administratively shut down.

Configuring Switch Information Collection

You can configure SNMP settings for collecting information from switches.

If you configure the Write Community value among switch settings, the following items can be modified:

  1. Default VLAN ID assigned to switch port.
  2. VLAN ID assigned to switch port.
  3. Admin Down state change of the switch port.
Item Description
SNMP Information Collection Allows enabling or disabling information collection from the switch.
SNMP Version Selects the SNMP version for communication.
Read Community Sets the community string for SNMP RO (Read Only) access.
Write Community Sets the community string for SNMP RW (Read/Write) access.
Write Memory Setting Determines whether the switch saves configuration values.
